2026 Subaru Forester vs 2025 Subaru Forester

Serving Evergreen Park, IL

The Subaru Forester is the preferred option for drivers who need a capable compact crossover SUV. This model delivers the full functionality of a spacious commuter vehicle while also being engineered for more adventurous activities. Between the 2025 and 2026 model years, the Subaru Forester benefits from a style refresh and additional improvements to its Wilderness trim level.

Performance

The Subaru Forester Wilderness is the most off-road-capable trim level available for 2025 and 2026. In 2026, this trim level has 0.6 inches of additional ground clearance, a shorter final drive ratio, and more drive modes. These modes are for snow/dirt and deep snow/mud. The Wilderness also adds Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tires, an upgraded engine cooler, and improved angles.

Most trim levels are available with two engine options in both model years. The entry-level engine is a 180-horsepower, 2.5-liter, four-cylinder system with a CVT. The alternative, which is not offered with the Wilderness, is a 194-horsepower, hybrid four-cylinder engine.

Appearance

The Forester’s strong style is defined by a tall, almost flat profile and extensive cladding that runs over the fenders, along the lower door panels, and throughout most of the front end. The molding rises to support the slender LED headlights. The curved nose is also styled with a hexagonal grille that features the brand’s logo and a crossbar. Some or all trims have roof rails, 19-inch wheels, and a hands-free liftgate.

Features

For both years, the Forester’s base trim level gives you smartphone integration, a pair of 7-inch touch display screens, a four-speaker sound system, adaptive cruise control, a frontal collision mitigation system, a rear seat reminder, and more. With higher trim levels, your Forester might also come with a panoramic sunroof, a digital rear mirror, an 11-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a driver attention alert, heated front and rear seats, a surround-view camera, leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and more.
