2025 Subaru Ascent vs 2024 Subaru Ascent
Serving Evergreen Park, IL
Subaru introduced the midsize Ascent crossover SUV in 2019, which has since gained popularity among car shoppers. This three-row model comfortably seats up to eight passengers, making it a perfect option for both work and leisure. For 2024 and 2025, the Subaru Ascent remains a first-generation vehicle, but with several important updates in 2025, there are noticeable differences between the two model years.
Performance
Both the 2024 and 2025 Subaru Ascent feature all-wheel drive across all trim levels. However, for 2025, Subaru has made the Premium trim the new entry-level option, as they discontinued the Base trim in 2024. Additionally, two new trims—Bronze Edition and Onyx Edition Touring—have been added for 2025. Both model years come with the same engine: a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine producing 260 horsepower, paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). All-wheel drive is standard on every trim level.
Appearance
The 2025 Subaru Ascent introduces the new Bronze Edition trim, which features bronze trim, badging, and 20-inch alloy wheels on the exterior. Meanwhile, the Onyx Edition trim adds a black roof spoiler, black grille, 20-inch alloy wheels, and black accents. Aside from these updates, the Ascent's overall exterior design remains largely unchanged. The SUV features long, slightly angled surfaces, a thin band of lower-body molding, and a deep horizontal accent along the top of the door panels. The front end displays a tall grille with horizontal crossbars, while the dual-element LED headlights add a contemporary touch.
Features
The Subaru Ascent is equipped with a variety of features across its trim levels. Lower trims come with a six-speaker sound system, cloth seats, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an 11.6-inch infotainment system, a three-zone automatic climate control system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, trailer sway damping, a blind-spot warning system, adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, and more. Higher trims offer added luxury features such as a panoramic sunroof, push-button start, water-repellent synthetic leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, second-row sunshades, an intercom system, and a 360-degree surround-view camera.
