2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness vs 2024 Subaru Outback Touring XT

Serving Evergreen Park, IL

The Subaru Outback has long been a leading option for Evergreen Park-area drivers searching for a well-equipped crossover that handles challenging conditions well. In 2024, shoppers can choose between nine trim levels. The Wilderness trim stands apart as a model that is well-suited for off-road adventures. The Touring XT is another standout trim level as the top-of-the-line option. How do these vehicles compare in critical areas?

Performance

While most of the 2024 Outback trim levels have the same base powertrain, the Wilderness and Touring XT are two trims with a turbocharged 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine. As is true for all Outback trims, the Wilderness and Touring XT have all-wheel drive and a CVT. The Wilderness trim has additional features to optimize performance, including low-range gearing, all-terrain tires, a lifted suspension, and a front skid plate.

Appearance

The Subaru Outback is easy to spot with its wagon-style design and sharp features. The profile flows smoothly across a long nose and a tapered roof. Dark molding is pronounced over the bumpers and sides. It swells across the wheel wells, lower door panels, and below the headlights. On the bumper, the molding holds small, circular fog lights. The grille has a hexagon shape with wavy, linear elements and a thick crossbar. The Outback's headlights have an innovative look with a bold LED ribbon that runs across the top of the bulbs before swooping downward. The Touring XT comes with heated and power-folding side-view mirrors, roof rails, a de-icer for the front windshield, a hands-free liftgate, 18-inch wheels, and a sunroof. The Wilderness also has some of these exterior features and a stronger roof rack, black badging and 17-inch wheels.

Features

Both of these models offer many of the same features, including a Harman Kardon sound system, heated seats for both rows, driver's memory settings, rear auto braking, a heated steering wheel, a navigation system, a digital rear mirror, a front-view camera, a front collision warning system, and wireless smartphone connectivity. If you opt for the Wilderness, you can benefit from more sound system speakers and water-repellent upholstery speakers. Premium leather upholstery is in the Touring XT.
